Vinyasa yoga is a flowing, dynamic style of yoga that synchronizes movement and breath while also focusing on alignment and transitions. In bringing intention and awareness to the spaces in between, the practice becomes a playful moving meditation. This four week class aims to complement your martial arts practice
through a series of asanas (postures) and vinyasas (flowing sequences) designed to increase strength, flexibility, and balance, while using the breath as a tool to deepen the mind-body connection.
No previous yoga experience is necessary -- modifications and variations will be offered to make this class accessible to all levels. Attendance at all four sessions is recommended but not required.
This class is being offered for FREE. Please bring your own mat and wear clothes that allow for unrestricted movement.
About the instructor - Kristen Murakoshi:
Kristen took her first yoga class in 2002 and practiced intermittently over the years, dabbling in styles ranging from Hatha to Bikram to Forrest. Since developing a regular practice (mostly in Vinyasa) over the last several years, yoga has provided her mind, body, & spirit a healing space to explore, to build strength, and to have fun – all things that keep her coming back to her mat. Kristen is currently completing a 200-hour teacher training program with Leah Gillman at Barefoot Movement in Oakland, and has also completed a certification in Transformative Life Skills (a combination of yoga, meditation, and breath work) with Niroga Center in Berkeley.
